Law Firm’s Charity Giveaway

Not for Profit groups and community organisations can apply for a one-off grant as law firm Slater & Gordon gives away $30,000 in February.
The law firm says the funds will be given away from its Staff Giving Program.
“Through the program employees at the firm donate a portion of their wages and the firm also contributes money towards the fund,” Social Responsibility Manager Suzy Mallett said.
Mallett said organisations could apply for a grant ranging between $2,500 and a maximum of $10,000.
Mallett said funds would be provided to organisations that provided services within the firm’s three areas of focus for its social responsibility work.
“The funds will go to groups that either promote healthy living for young people; assist people with disease and disability, or address inequality and disadvantage in our communities,” Mallett said.
She said the firm’s Staff Giving Program was set up to provide an easy way for Slater & Gordon staff to make a collective impact through pooling small amounts of regular donations.
“The program represents an easy way for staff to make a difference and is underpinned by our commitment to helping alleviate inequality and supporting other social causes,” Mallett said.
“Giving back is at the heart of what we do as individuals and as a firm.
“Our goal is to have a positive impact on the communities in which we operate by empowering them to deliver programs that help improve the lives of those less fortunate.”
Mallet said funds from the program would not be provided for ongoing operational costs for groups, but specific projects or activities.
“Funds from this program have supported a range of initiatives in previous years such as purchasing electrical stimulation machines to aid Cerebral Palsy sufferers, providing residential programs to help people work through their childhood issues and purchasing a new community bus," she said.
“Applications for the $30,000 giveaway will close on February 12 and vetted shortly thereafter. Slater & Gordon participants in the staff giving program, will then vote on which groups will receive a share in the $30,000.”
The successful applicants will be announced on February 28.
