Stanford Scholarships Open to Australian NFP leaders

Two Scholarships Are On Offer For The Stanford Graduate School of Business

The Stanford Australia Foundation is offering two scholarships for Not for Profit leaders – one for up to $50,000 – to study at one of the world's leading business schools, the Stanford Graduate School of Business based in California.

The Foundation is offering a second Australian scholarship to Stanford worth $15,000.

The Stanford Australia Foundation is an initiative of the Stanford Australia Association, which was established in 1987 to link the substantial group of Stanford alumni in Australia.

The Not for Profit scholarship program provides an opportunity for Senior Executives in the Australian Not for Profit sector to undertake further study at the Centre for Social Innovation at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Former 2008 scholarship recipient Joe Collins, who was the then Executive Chair of the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia said “It is not an exaggeration to say that going to Stanford University was one of the absolute highlights of my career. The experience had an impact far beyond the short time I spent there. Stanford is an exceptional and inspirational learning institution”.

“I think if one measures outcomes as testimony to its value and impact then I can point to organisational achievements since attending Stanford including helping the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia’s (CCIA’s) strategy to become one of Australia’s premier medical research institutes.”

This year the Foundation says scholarship opportunities have broadened significantly offering the two Scholarships for executive education at Stanford.

Scholarships to be awarded in 2012 for study in 2013

2013 SAF Dyson Bequest Scholarship: Up to $50,000 (towards course fees and economy return travel) for the Stanford Executive Program.

2013 Stanford Australia Foundation Scholarship: Up to $15,000 (for course fees and economy return travel) to attend a Stanford Graduate School of Business executive course of the recipient’s choice.

Candidate requirements

• SAF scholarship recipients must be employed by an Australian Not for Profit organisation with Deductable Gift Recipient status 1 (DGR1)
• The candidates for this scholarship will be the Executive Director, President, or CEO of an Australian Not for Profit
• Individuals who currently serve as a Deputy Director or equivalent will be considered if they expect to advance to a CEO position within three years
