One-Stop-Shop for Victoria’s Community Sector

Victoria’s Not for Profit organisations now have a one-stop-shop to help them to comply with all levels of government regulations.

The online NFP Compliance Support Centre website has been launched by Deputy Premier Peter Ryan.

Ryan said that the online portal would provide a single location for detailed information, advice and documentation to assist organisations in meeting compliance regulations set by all levels of government.

He said that the portal was a “key plank” in the Government’s plan to reduce regulatory burden for community sector organisations.

"The current regulatory environment for NFPs is complex and requires organisations to comply with more than 60 individual Acts and Regulations across all levels of government,” Ryan said.

"The new NFP Compliance Support Centre website will offer a single entry point for all regulatory information, licenses, forms and related support materials."

The Office for the Community Sector says it consulted with more than 160 community organisations from sports to arts and welfare through focus groups, one-on-one interviews and website testing to ensure that the new website is user-friendly for a largely volunteer-based sector, while tailored for their special needs.

“The consultation program showed that 45 per cent of NFPs did not know where to find the information they needed to help them comply with regulations,” Ryan said.

“The new web portal will make it much simpler for NFPs to find the information they need – to start a new community organisation or to ensure their organisation is able to comply with government requirements whether they are regulated by the State Government, Federal Government or a local government.”
