Established in 1996, Grief Australia is a government-funded not-for-profit organisation that supports grieving Australians through advocacy, research and evidence-informed practice and education.

Position Profile
TITLE: Head of Service Delivery
FUNCTION: Service Delivery
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
TERMS: This role may be appointed full-time or part-time
LOCATION :Grief Australia office, offsite, as agreed.
PURPOSE
Organisation purpose
Grief Australia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to better prepare Australians for grief and to be a guiding voice through it. Our mission is to support grieving Australians through advocacy, evidence-informed practice and education.
Function purpose
The Service Delivery function supports the organisation’s core purpose by providing specialist interventions to those experiencing grief and bereavement, and evidence-informed education, training and research.
Role Purpose
The Head of Service Delivery is a member of the Senior Management Team responsible for the development, implementation, and realisation of the Strategic Plan, including the achievement of key performance measures.
The role is specifically responsible for leading a professional team to deliver best-practice counselling and support, and high-quality, evidence-informed education and training, as outlined in the Function Purpose.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the CEO in implementing the Strategic Plan and to achieve its stated mission, goals, objectives, and strategies.
- Demonstrate aspirational leadership that directly aligns with the Core Values, promotes a positive and inclusive culture, helps deliver a high-quality employee experience and promotes optimal employee outcomes.
- Play an active role as a member of the Senior Management Team in relation to strategic and practical priorities for the organisation, specifically:
- Co-design, implement and embed a refreshed organisational structure and way of working, including key decisions, management of employee retention, attrition, and attraction targets, and associated activities and
- Be a champion of the Social Contract and embed its key elements in day-to-day activities and
- Be a champion of the brand refresh, implement and embed as
- Be a champion of diversity and inclusivity in the creation and delivery of specific
- Undertake specific Senior Management Team and Board responsibilities as required, including special projects and sub-committees.
- Oversee all aspects of service delivery in the form of counselling and support through professional specialist grief practitioners, including service systems data capture, informed client management, and reporting.
- Oversee education and training programs, including those related to workforce development and those relating to external opportunities.
- Enhance the organisation’s reputation and professional standing.
- Deliver external compliance and other responsibilities as appropriate.
- Achieve all key performance measures as identified in the Performance Management Plan
Service Delivery
- Ensure best-practice counselling and support are being delivered via a fit-for-purpose team of intake coordinators and specialist grief practitioners.
- Provide high-quality oversight and clinical supervision to internal and external professionals, volunteers, and students, support group programs and manage the Telephone Service
- Deliver evidence-informed education and training programs and services, including health promotion, private contracts, and fee-for-service clinical supervision.
- Maintain accurate and secure client data and reports.
- Lead the content development and program delivery for the National Conference
- Support the development of tender applications.

- Balancing the management of delivering counselling and support with capacity building through education and training
- Successful management of a large portfolio of the business in the achievement of key performance measures
- Building and maintaining an effective fit-for-purpose staffing model and associated talent management requirements

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association, such as the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or the Australian Psychological Society (APS)
- Post-graduate qualification in social work, psychology or counselling
- Post-graduate qualification in bereavement counselling, such as the Graduate Certificate in Grief and Bereavement or similar
- Certification as a Certified Bereavement Practitioner, CBP
- An industry-recognised qualification in clinical supervision
- Knowledge and experience working with Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT)
- Completion of the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Minimum of two years in teaching at a tertiary level or within a Registered Training Organisation, preferably in the field of grief and loss
- Demonstrated experience in the management of a clinical service.
- Extensive experience in the provision of clinical supervision, specifically in grief, loss, and bereavement
- Practising counsellor in grief and loss, including extensive skills in counselling adults, young people, children. and families experiencing complex bereavement.
- Experience and competence in facilitating bereavement support groups.
- A sound understanding of the grief and bereavement literature and of contemporary evidence-based practice.
- Experience in providing advice and consultation to external specialists and mainstream practitioners.
- Ability to think creatively about program development and delivery.
- High-quality leadership, interpersonal, communication, and employee management skills
- Ability to think laterally, prioritise, take initiative, maintain confidentiality, and execute sound judgement in a high- pressure environment.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Flexible approach and the ability to work autonomously and within a high-performing team
