SEARMS is a registered Aboriginal Community Housing provider with offices in Batemans Bay and Canberra. They have served the Aboriginal communities in regional NSW since 2003 and more recently in Canberra.

SEARMS is in the midst of exceptional growth.  They currently manage 500 properties, operate a property maintenance crew and oversee the development of new properties to add to their portfolio.

About the role

This new position is an identified position open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.  

The Specialist Housing Services Manager reports to the Chief Services Officer and is responsible for leading the development of SEARMS first Aboriginal Women’s and Children’s Domestic and Family Violence Crisis accommodation program.

Responsibilities

  • Providing high-level practice and professional supervision to the Program team.
  • Managing team performance, recruitment, training, induction, supervision and support.
  • Coordinating policies, procedures and resources necessary to ensure the effective delivery of support services.
  • Developing and implementation of a trauma-informed practice framework.
  • Delivery of an integrated trauma-informed, culturally safe model.
  • Effectively engaging with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Provision of service-wide training and practice leadership – both in-house and in various off-site locations as required to meet service delivery needs
  • Ensuring that all data and reporting requirements are met.

Selection criteria

  • A relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling and applicable membership of a professional body
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate experience
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in the professional supervision of social work and/or counselling staff as part of a multi- disciplinary service.
  • Up to date post graduate training and certificates relating to culturally safe professional supervision
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to lead and develop a small team.
  • Professional philosophy that aligns with the mission and values of SEARMS.
  • Highly developed computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office, accounting software and contemporary cloud based software.

It is a mandatory work requirement that the successful candidate has:

  • Working with children check
  • Police clearance to work with vulnerable members of the community
  • Covid-19 vaccination
  • Driver’s license
  • Proof of Aboriginality
