SEARMS is a registered Aboriginal Community Housing Provider with offices in Batemans Bay and Canberra. They have served the Aboriginal communities in regional NSW since 2003 and more recently in Canberra.

SEARMS is in the midst of exceptional growth.  They currently manage 500 properties, operate a property maintenance crew and oversee the development of new properties to add to their portfolio.

About the role

This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.

We are seeking a highly skilled and culturally competent Service Delivery Manager to oversee the management of Aboriginal Housing in Batemans Bay.  The role reports to the Chief Services Officer and leads a team of 2 Team Leaders, 2 Housing Officers and a cohort of Cadets working and training towards their Cert IV in Community Housing.

The scope of the role includes; housing applications and allocations, tenancy management, support referrals and overseeing NCAT cases including rent arrears, tenant damage and termination of tenancies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accurate and timely management of housing services and community engagement.
  • Provide coaching, support and supervision to the tenancy team
  • Manage team performance, recruitment, training, induction and wellbeing
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and ensure KPI’s are met
  • Address escalated complaints and resolve housing disputes and conflicts
  • Ensure the culturally safe delivery of tenancy and community engagement practices.
  • Ensure compliance with the Residential Tenancy Act and other regulatory requirements governing housing operations.

Selection criteria

  • Cert IV in Social Housing and/or or other relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience OR a 4 year degree with minimal experience.
  • An awareness of, or the ability to gain knowledge of the regulatory and compliance frameworks that SEARMS works within, particularly the Residential Tenancies Act and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. 
  • Demonstrated good standard of written and oral communication skills 
  • Demonstrated skill resolving conflict and disputes in a similar environment
  • Demonstrated ability to produce quality work with strong attention to detail within defined deadlines 
  • In depth knowledge of Aboriginal culture, cultural safe communication 
  • Effective time management and organisational skills 
  • Commitment to the safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement of a team.

It is a mandatory work requirement that the successful candidate has:

  • Working with children check
  • Police clearance to work with vulnerable members of the community
  • Covid-19 vaccination
  • Driver’s license
  • Proof of Aboriginality
