The NTEU Tasmanian Division has a vacancy for a full-time Industrial Officer to be based in Hobart, with regular travel to regional worksites. The position will suit an individual experienced in industrial relations or advocacy, either within a trade union or other like community organisations.
The successful candidate will be assigned a mix of duties including, as part of a small team, taking responsibility for the completion of assigned industrial, training and recruitment tasks or projects. The typical duties of this position include:
- Provide industrial advice and assistance to members, Branches, and Divisions, on industrial matters and industrial disputes, and the enforcement and implementation of Enterprise Agreements and Awards.
- Negotiate workplace grievances/issues and industrial disputes with management.
- As part of a team involving Division or National industrial staff, participate in the Branch Enterprise Bargaining negotiations.
- Research, prepare and/or advocate cases before Fair Work Australia or other tribunals as part of a team, or alone on less complex or non-strategic matters.

The position will be filled at either NTEU Level 6 ($101,170-$110,908) or NTEU Level 7 ($114,807 – $126,754) depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. Terms and conditions for this position are covered by a national Collective Agreement which has terms comparable with NTEU members in the industry.
The University of Tasmania requires all staff, students and visitors attending campus to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Therefore, all candidates will need to provide proof of vaccination to be considered for this position.
