Melba Support Services is actively recruiting for a Senior Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Practice, Quality & Safeguards team on a Permanent Full-time basis working remotely. This role allows you to work from anywhere in Victoria with travel to our sites across the state as required.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on the implementation of our contemporary trauma-informed positive behavior support framework by focusing on building the capability and consistent use of trauma-informed positive behaviour support by all our services to improve outcomes for all of our supported people.

With a focus on delivering high-quality services we are building our capability to respond to our changing organisation and this position will play an integral role in embedding world class trauma informed positive behaviour support practices for the benefit of the people we support.

  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-disciplinary experts to continually review and implement an organisation-wide trauma-informed positive behaviour support framework with a focus on the protection, maintenance, and upholding of human rights.
  • Complete and Document assessments to understand the risk, causal and contributing factors of a person’s behaviours of protest. 
  • Provide training, modelling, and coaching support to direct support professionals and operational management to understand our positive behaviour support approach, implement positive behaviour support plans and strategies, and to engage in reflective practice.
  • Evaluate and directly monitor the implementation of positive behaviour support plans, addressing barriers to implementation of plans when required.
  • Design, implement, capture, and analyse data in order to monitor the effectiveness of positive behaviour support plans.
  • Keep abreast of new strategies, technologies and provide recommendations for improving service provision.
  • Provide clinical supervision and professional development opportunities to the Positive Behaviour Support team, focused on identifying areas of development, coaching and supporting reflective practice.

  

About You  

  • Registered as a NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, at the level of Advanced or Specialist. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the implementation of contemporary positive behavior support. 
  • Working knowledge of the Disability Act 2006 (Vic) and the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding framework, as relevant to the use and reporting of restrictive practices.
  • Proven success in leading and developing teams and providing clinical supervision to develop and advance the knowledge and skills of practitioners at other levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in system change that enhance the rights and lives of people living with a disability.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice, support, coaching, mentoring, and training to managers and staff in person-centred active support and positive behavior support through a trauma informed lens.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including peers, employees, external organisations, funding bodies and government agencies.

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance 
  • Working with Children Check 
  • The right to work in Australia
