About the position: 

The Platform is based on an evidence-informed therapeutic process and intersectional practice aimed at increasing engagement and improving AOD treatment outcomes for specific young people and families from diverse backgrounds and identities.

Position objective: 

This organization is employing an AOD Youth and Family Practice Lead to embed whole of family practice within the Youth AOD Intersectional Care Coordination Platform and client therapeutic process (journey), across the Consortia. Our definition of family is inclusive and defined by the client. This role is pivotal to ensuring that a family lens is applied in addressing the complex intersectional needs and risks associated with each case.

Overview of the role: 

  • Provide evidence-informed AOD treatment and collaborative care to young people and families, using brief interventions, care planning, AOD counselling, harm reduction, community engagement and trauma-responsive frameworks.
  • Monitor and ensure program fidelity.
  • Facilitate capacity building for Practitioners from the service and from partner organizations in the sector, with a particular focus on whole-of-family work.
  • Contribute to Operational Planning to assist in achieving individual, team and organizational program outcomes, targets and KPIs as per contractual agreements with funders and those determined by the Consortia.

 

Essential requirements: 

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Family Therapy, Youth Work, AOD or equivalent with further training in family work.
  • A minimum of five years experience in the AOD sector, family services sector or youth sector.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising multidisciplinary staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of a range of therapeutic approaches for individuals, couples, families, and specifically young people impacted by AOD use and those with multiple and complex needs such as mental health, family violence and substance abuse issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of group programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs, issues, and sensitivities of people from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal, LGBTIQA+ and culturally and linguistically diverse people and communities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work within integrated, collaborative, and systemic approaches.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work tasks.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work creatively, show initiative, contribute ideas and be active in a supportive team environment in an agency working to support individual and family relationships.
  • Victorian driver’s license.
