Technology company Blackbaud Pacific has launched an online competition to give AU$10,000 to an Australian charity, NGO or university to “power their passion”.
The Blackbaud $10K Challenge, aims to “showcase the passion that fuels the Not for Profit sector and give fundraisers a chance to share their stories with the world”.
Senior marketing manager Stacey Astley-Clark said Blackbaud was continually inspired by what fundraisers do and this was their chance to give back.
“Fundraisers are the unsung heroes of the Not for Profit sector, who dedicate blood, sweat and tears to achieving their mission,” Astley-Clark told Pro Bono Australia News.
“The Blackbaud $10K Challenge is a chance to recognise these incredible people and celebrate the spirit of our sector.”
Entrants are required to submit a short video or captioned image that conveys how $10,000 could be used to “power their passions”.
Astley-Clark said the entries will be judged on three criteria.
“Firstly the cause, what they are actually going to do with the money, we are not giving them money, we are going to fund a project.
“Secondly, a creative use in their medium, it can just be a video on a phone, it doesn’t need to be professional but we are looking for creativity.
“Thirdly passion. There is no explanation needed with this one, we want to give it to someone who really wants it.
“It can take fundraisers who knows how long to raise $10,000 so we are encouraging everyone to apply. There is no trick question. We are just giving away $10,000.”
One of the judges, Richenda Vermeulen, the founder and director of Not for Profit digital agency ntegrity, said she couldn’t wait to hear from passionate applicants.
“Those that change the world are fueled by passion and successful by perseverance. $10,000 can change a Not for Profit, it can change a business, it can change a life,” Vermeulen said.
Entries are now open. Submissions will be shared online using #sharethepassion and put to a public vote between 1 June and 15 July 2016.
A panel of independent judges will review the top five entries and the winner will be announced in Sydney on 2 August.
