All Australian States and Territories have now signed on to the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness to continue funding for the next 12 months, according to the Federal Government.
This follows the finalisation of agreements with South Australia and Tasmania – the last States to sign the 2014-15 agreement.
Minister for Social Services Kevin Andrews said the NPAH would provide up to $115 million in Federal funding for homelessness initiatives delivered by the States and Territories.
“Now that each of the States and Territories have agreed to the NPAH, we are able to start working collaboratively to achieve a lasting legacy of helping all Australians gain safe, affordable and appropriate housing,” Andrews said.
The Federal Government has not given any funding assurances beyond the next 12 months.
However, the Federal Government said that it was about to undertake a national review of the housing affordability and homelessness policies and programs.
