A national child protection organisation has expanded its workforce in NSW to deliver education, counselling and case management support services for those engaged with the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
Bravehearts last year secured $5.2 million in federal funding to provide services to support survivors who are engaging with the Royal Commission. In the past 12 months, the organisation has increased its workforce by 15 positions.
As part of the expansion, the organisation has appointed former Peer Group Media General Manager Amanda McGregor as the NSW State manager to drive and manage its business development.
More recently she was senior account director, then general manager at Peer Group Media.
She will report to National Engagement Manager Olivia Dean and joins Bravehearts alongside former Ernst & Young senior consultant Hayley Windsor (who was appointed Commercial Manager) and Brisbane lawyer Monique Scattini, who has been hired as Director Royal Commission.
“I am passionate about child protection and have seen first hand the incredible work Bravehearts does in the community,” McGregor said.
“I am excited to be part of the team which is dedicated to educating, empowering and protecting Australian children.”
McGregor has a long-standing commitment to Bravehearts. She first worked with the organisation in 2006 and 2007, leading the publicity campaign for its annual White Balloon Day as account director at boutique PR agency Launch Group and later as a volunteer member of the NSW Bravehearts committee.
Bravehearts has also employed nine Queensland university graduates, from the fields of psychology, justice and behavioural sciences, as casual staff members.
The graduates, from University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University and Bond University, have been employed to assist callers contacting the 1800 272 831 Information and Support Line by providing information and directing their calls to the subject matter experts within Bravehearts.
