Initiative to Get Young People Engaged with NFPs

A leading youth Not for Profit has started a new initiative to get more young people engaged in volunteering and Not for Profit work.

The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA), who have described the initiative as a “BFF (Best Friends Forever) holiday with a twist”, is offering two young people the chance to be flown from city to city for One Week Without Borders to get involved in some of Australia’s “most exciting volunteering opportunities”.

"Through Young People Without Borders, FYA is rethinking how Australia does rites of passage," the program’s director Caroline Farrer said.

"We want to see all young Australians contributing in areas like education, conservation, mental health and international development.

"We also believe that volunteering should never be boring.

"Through One Week Without Borders we hope to show that young people can channel their desire to travel into volunteer projects that are both exciting for them and helpful to others."

The trip includes spending time on the Great Barrier Reef with Conservation Volunteers Australia, working with Melbourne’s social enterprise eateries, helping out the Red Cross in Sydney, pitching in with the Country Fire Authority (CFA) and more.

To enter, entrants need to create a 15-second Instagram video with their best friend explaining why they should win and post it with #OneWeekWithoutBorders.

Entries will close on Sunday, February 2.

One Week Without Borders is open to Australian residents aged 13 to 22. For more information, click here.
