Westpac Community Leaders Awards

Banking giant Westpac has launched a Community Leaders Awards campaign to recognise leaders in the Not for Profit sector.

Westpac says the Community Leaders Awards will recognise dedicated and inspirational Australians who make a significant contribution to the social fabric of Australia through their service to Not for Profit and Community organisations in Australia.

“The Awards will showcase leadership as demonstrated by outstanding initiative, impact of work, and inspiration to others,” Westpac National Head of Education and Social Sector Banking Barry Thatcher said.

"Westpac has recently established a Community Board which is aimed at leading the community agenda within the group, drive local Westpac community activity and support fundraising efforts for our foundation and our community partners,” Thatcher said.

“The Community Leaders awards is particularly important for us because without recognising the individual efforts of wonderful and inspiring people in the community, innovation and delivery of new or enhanced services would not happen.

“Therefore we're proud to launch the inaugural Westpac Community Leaders Award to recognise and celebrate the leaders within the Community who go above and beyond to make a difference in their organisations and their communities"

The winning Westpac Community Leaders will be recognised and awarded with a $5,000 cheque for their community organisation, $5,000 worth of financial management training courses from the Davidson Institute for their community organisation, and receive a Westpac MasterCard® Gift card preloaded with $500 as a personal reward.

There are four awards to be won in the following categories:

• Start-up Not for Profit Executive Manager: Leaders who are willing to channel their passion for a cause, and engage with the community to set-up an organisation that delivers services to fill gaps in the Sector (eligible for Executive Managers of a NFP in operation for more than 3 months up to 2 years).
• Established Not for Profit Executive Manager (e.g. Managing Director or Chief Executive Officer): Leaders whose role is critical in developing and maintaining the sustainability and effectiveness of a well-established Not for Profit organisation (eligible for Executive Managers of a NFP in operation for more than 2 years).
• Treasurer: Leaders who provide leadership in the financial life of any organisation, regardless of the size or time in operation of the organisation (eligible for Treasurers who have held their role for at least 1 year).
• Social entrepreneurs: Leaders operating in any organisational capacity with innovative solutions to our social problems (operating for at least 1 year).

Nominations are open until 30th September 2013. Winners will be notified by Friday 1st November 2013.
