Community Education Grants Up for Grabs

Individual grants of up to $50,000 are available as part of Ansvar Insurance’s community education program, providing funds for education and life skills initiatives.

The grants are aimed at programs which target youth under the age of 25, and fall under the categories of empowerment and education or outreach and support.

Ansvar CEO Andrew Moon said the program grants have been helping organisations “enrich the lives of young people”, so they can develop their own lives, give back to their communities and share their skills and experiences with their peers.

“We’re inspired by the programs we support and the role they play in their communities,” he said.

“We’ve provided support to initiatives ranging from sports programs which motivate youths to be active and improve their overall health and wellbeing, to those which give disadvantaged teenagers the chance to reach their potential.

“For Ansvar it’s about giving back to the community in ways that are meaningful and provide a positive impact to the lives of the next generation. It’s our opportunity to assist organisations focused on assisting others.

“If your organisation is running a youth program which is in need of assistance, we encourage you to look into our grants program and learn more about it.”

The community education grants program has been running for 19 years.

Ansvar has donated more than $10 million in the community programs since 1994.

Last year’s recipients included organisations such as DOXA Youth Foundation, Teen Challenge WA, Motivational Media and Open Family Australia.

DOXA Chief Operating Officer Murray Wilson said the support received from Ansvar for the DOXA Cadetship Program was “invaluable”.

“Not only did Ansvar fund text books for every young person in our program they also had a hands on approach in directly supporting two of our cadets,” he said.

Applications close at 5pm, Friday, September 6.

All applicants will be contacted in December, with successful applicants receiving grants in January 2014.
