Confidence & The Future: Survey of Australian Not for Profits
3 March 2011 at 11:41 am

Philanthropist, social entrepreneur and Australian of the Year, Simon McKeon outlined the top issues he believes will shape the Not for Profit sector in 2011 to Pro Bono Australia readers. Now it’s the sector’s chance to share its thoughts on what the future holds.

Simon McKeon listed public accountability, embracing technology, managing volunteers and reaching out to Australian business as the ‘hot topics’ in the charity sector in the coming year.

The social sector is oriented to social change, to creating a better society, to making a difference. Not for Profit organisations think and talk about the future and work to make a better future.

However, Pro Bono Australia Publishers, Karen Mahlab and David James say there are no surveys that track the social sector’s thoughts about the future and the issues that will shape them.

The mainstream media regularly reports on the results of business confidence surveys. Increasing confidence by businesses is generally welcomed; reducing confidence is always a source of concern.

Pro Bono Australia’s Social Sector Confidence Survey is adapted from business confidence surveys. The results of this survey will enable the sector to gain trend data about its future.

Please take a few minutes to contribute your views. The questions are posed in terms of ‘your organisation’: this may be the primary organisation you work in, volunteer for, or from whom you receive services.

Importantly you can also rate Simon McKeon’s top four hot issues. The results will be posted online

Please note: all responses are anonymous and treated as personal opinions (not the opinion of any organisation)

I believe the demand for our services is going to increase substantially in the near future without adequate funding to compensate. One of our funding bodies is planning to pin one of our projects to their own service provision demands without financially contributing to the cost of the extra work and demands on the existing service deliver by the existing project.
