Organisation : Sport and Life Training
Location : Melbourne
Time required : As needed each week to plan and run the event
Duration of project : June-September
Skill area : Events
Sector : Community Development, Community Engagement, Families, Mental Health, Youth & Young People
About the role
We have a fantastic annual Brownlow breakfast event in the planning, with a significant celebrity list (for example, Sam Pang is hosting), and a history of strong attendance. Whilst our staff will work hard to support the event, we are not experts in event planning, and are stretched with our day-to-day tasks. An expert Event Coordinator to lead the team would be extremely helpful, and also help us to maximise the return we get (whether that is financial and/or leverage) from this annual fundraising activity. This support could be one off, running from June until the event in September.
About the organisation
SALT (Sport and Life Training) provides unique programs to Australian sporting clubs that aim to transform Australian culture through sport. We know sporting clubs are at the hub of every community throughout Australia and provide the perfect networks to facilitate sustainable cultural change. Our society is in crisis – issues of drug and alcohol abuse, violence, suicide, discrimination, mental illness, racism and addiction pervade our culture. Everyone benefits from a supportive team environment and positive culture, and SALT helps clubs to achieve positive change and facilitate conversations. Sadly, at times we are called in to specific clubs who have experienced a suicide or other tragic event, and SALT's work in this space is especially significant. The impact this has on the lives of families and young people is profound, and ongoing as they progress through the junior and senior ranks of a club. To hear about this in their own words, please head to our website www.sportandlifetraining.com.au.We are a very small team, with funding provided by a wide range of government agencies, corporate sponsors, and welcome donations, and we are working hard to fulfil the needs of clubs who are coming to us. We are desperate for some assistance to help us in areas that are not our core expertise, and these are shown below. It may be that you are also passionate about helping young people and families in a sustainable way, that is focused on prevention and early support; and SALT could provide a vehicle for you to channel your desire to help. If you could assist, you would be helping us to raise funds and make contacts that enable us to assist more clubs, teams, families and young people across Australia. Of course, your business could also receive very public recognition and acknowledgement across the broad network that Dave Burt, our founder, has established over many years.
