B Corp Australia has welcomed Phronesis Security, which has funded anti-malaria bed nets, scholarships and carbon offsets.
Phronesis Security is Australia’s first B-Corp certified cybersecurity company, led by a young and philanthropically-minded securities specialist.
CEO and founder of Phronesis Elliot Dellys explains his corporate philanthropic model is inspired by the 80,000 Hours project.
Dellys said he hopes other businesses can adopt a similar approach to improve their social and environmental impact.
Becoming a part of the B Corp community in Australia was the next step.
“We’re proud to be a part of the B Corp community and hope to demonstrate how maximising impact need not come at the expense of growth,” Dellys said.
Phronesis Security achieved an assessment score of 102.2 from B Lab, exceeding the minimum certification score of 80.
Kira Day, impact and engagement manager for B Corp Australia congratulated the security company on its certification.
“B Corp certification is one of the ways businesses can demonstrate that they are committed to being accountable and making decisions with a long-term view.
“For most businesses, including Phronesis, this milestone is a huge achievement — but also the start of a journey of continuous improvement,” she said.
The cybersecurity specialist, which launched only 12 months ago, operates from a model based on giving its team a “data-driven mission” that’s tied to clear, tangible impacts.
“We leave work every day knowing that what we’ve done isn’t just helping our clients protect their crown jewels, but also protecting our planet and disadvantaged people,” Founder Elliot Dellys said.
“It’s our way of using our skills to generate the greatest possible impact.”
Dellys explained he first considered impact when working for the Australian Signals Directorate before launching Phronesis.
