The winners were acknowledged for their “important and impactful” work towards achieving the sustainable development goals.

The Victorian government has picked up an international award for its efforts to support the state’s social enterprises.

At last week’s Catalyst 2030 Awards, the Victorian government won the Asia-Pacific government award for its 2021-25 Social Enterprise Strategy and Social Procurement Framework.

The Social Enterprise Strategy was designed in partnership with Victoria’s social enterprise sector.

Catalyst 2030 is a global movement comprising people and organisations that are creating systems change to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Sixty finalists for the awards were selected from more than 200 nominations. The overall criteria for the awards were developed from the collective expertise of Catalyst 2030 members, building on the movement’s solid frameworks for catalytic systems change work.

Sohini Bhattacharya, Catalyst 2030 spokesperson and CEO of Breakthrough, said all the finalists were “involved in important and impactful systems change work”.

A Victorian government spokesperson welcomed the Catalyst award.

“This award recognises our commitment to growing a fairer and more inclusive economy that benefits all Victorians and social enterprises are vital to achieving that goal,” the spokesperson said.

“Social enterprises create so many positive benefits, including jobs for thousands of Victorians, many of whom face barriers to employment.”
