ACOSS

As the housing and climate crises deepens, and we brace for the next wave of the COVID-19 pandemic to hit, the federal budget is not a budget people can rely on. It is a flash in the pan budget that delivers temporary fixes when we need permanent solutions to address the huge challenges we face as a nation. VCOSS

Both the Victorian and federal governments are grappling with how to ease the cost of living for people doing it tough. With petrol prices surging, food prices on the rise, rents increasing and wages flat lining, many people are feeling the squeeze. VCOSS is heartened Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas has hinted at new measures to ease the costs burdens for Victorians. It believes any new measures must be well targeted, and assist those in the most dire need as a matter of urgency. SACOSS

The SACOSS Building a Climate Resilient Community Sector Conference is coming up on Thursday 5 May at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The changing climate is the social justice issue of our time, and this conference tackles the preparations the health and community services sector need to make and the issues to be addressed, from insurance to health impacts and more. Keynote speakers are Dr Veronica Matthews, who is talking about the climate impact for Aboriginal communities, and Dr Kate Wylie, who is speaking about health implications. Register here.

NCOSS

NCOSS has published the Women in NGO social services sector in NSW data report. The report details the responses from a 14 question survey conducted by NCOSS in the lead up to International Women’s Day 2022. It provides detailed analysis of the survey results and serves as a supplementary report to A long way to the top – career opportunities and obstacles for women in the social services sector in NSW, which was released by NCOSS and Impact Economics and Policy in March 2022.

QCOSS

Analysing data to measure outcomes can be complex and expensive. So how can underfunded and over-stretched community organisations show evidence of the social impact of their work? In this QCOSS Research and Evaluation webinar, you’ll learn about an innovative and evidence-based platform for the community sector that provides access to a range of free impact measurements tools. WACOSS

The COVID-19 Cleaning Reimbursement Scheme and Community Sector Surge Pool (CSSP) are now both live on WACOSS’ website. Community sector organisations in WA who have had additional cleaning costs due to COVID-19 are encouraged to apply for reimbursement now using this form. CSSP is an initiative to connect the sector by sharing staff via secondment. Community sector organisations in WA are encouraged to register for the CSSP here.

TasCOSS
