Pro Bono News has launched a reader poll to understand and support the role of charities in the lead up to the next federal election.
After months of speculation, the federal election has been called. Australia will head to the polls on 21 May.
As has been much discussed, it’s a watershed election: the results will determine the shape of fundamental policy directions that will impact our sector for years to come.
The leaders of the two main parties kicked off the six-week campaign by outlining their pitch to voters.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the choice was between a “government that you know and that has been delivering and a Labor opposition that you don’t”.
Meanwhile, Labor leader Anthony Albanese put forward the idea of “a better future”.
But we want to hear from you about what you want.

We are keen to hear about the change you would like to see, whether your organisation has an election strategy in place, and if you have any concerns about advocacy.
The survey takes five minutes. All answers will be anonymous and any personal information that could identify you will be removed or changed before results are made public.
It’s a great opportunity to gauge the opinions of others within our diverse and multi-faceted sector: the more that take part, the more useful it will be to all.
Legitimate charities should be given tax free status. Money donated should not be consumed into salaries, admin or any other non-charitable activities, other than the goal and purpose of the charity.
