To celebrate B Corp Month 2022, a report has revealed which B Corp certified businesses are the most searched for around the world.

Moodle, the Australian online educational platform created for distance learning, has been announced as the world’s most popular B Corp – according to Google search.

The team at Uswitch, a UK-based energy price comparison site, analysed Google search data to reveal which was the world’s most popular eco-friendly business.

They did this by calculating which B Corp brands were Googled the most around the world.

Moodle came top of the list with over 53.5 million annual global searches. The Australian-based company is hailed as the world’s most popular learning management system and was crucial throughout the pandemic when classrooms were closed.

Coursea, an online course provider for universities, came second with 35.9 million, and the shoe brand TOMS was third with 14.9 million. Australian brand, Envato, came in ninth with 9.4 million.

Popular brands such as premium ice-cream manufacturers Ben & Jerry’s and the world’s first carbon-neutral brewery BrewDog also appear in the top 15, ranking in seventh and 15th place respectively.

B Corp certification is awarded to businesses meeting the highest standards of accountability when it comes to their social and environmental impact. There are now almost 5,000 of them in the world.

To gather and consolidate the data, USwitch took every B Corp’s name from the B Lab directory (available in all countries)and ran it through Google Adwords to reveal which ones were searched for the most over the course of 12 months. They then ranked the companies based on the volume of annual searches.

What does this prove? Well, if you’re a business it demonstrates that the social and environmental impact of your products and services has never been more important to consumers. And a lot of them are actively searching for ethical businesses to spend their hard-earned cash with.

Sarah Broomfield from USwitch said that she thought it was brilliant to see so many businesses proving you can be successful and also be a force for good in the world.

“Awareness of the need to live more sustainably has never been higher, “ she said. “And consumers are actively choosing companies that go above and beyond when it comes to their social and environmental impact.
