Kicking off a year of social enterprise with (Re)Purpose

In the run-up to the Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) in September, the sector is looking to generate some social enterprise excitement with its (Re)Purpose event.

It’s an exciting year for Australia’s social enterprise sector, as in September the country takes its turn playing host to the Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF).

And while the main event in Brisbane is still seven months away, the build up to all things social enterprise kicks off next month with the launch of (Re)Purpose.

(Re)Purpose: How Australian social enterprises are redefining prosperity — to give the event its full title — will take place on Wednesday 16 March and will be run online.

Dominique Bird, general manager of SEWF 2022, told Pro Bono News that the event’s stakeholders and partners were really excited about kicking things off in March.

“There’s a sense of readiness in the sector,” Bird said. “To collaborate, to grow, and to make some noise.”

Bird told Pro Bono News that participants of (Re)Purpose can expect some amazing guest speakers from APY Art Centre Collective, TABOO and Who Gives a Crap. Plus, an opportunity to network online using the event platform Remo

“We want to use the event to grow the social enterprise ‘tent’ and bring new voices into the sector,” Bird said.

“The event is less aimed at the social enterprise old guard and geared towards new entrants who might want to learn more about social enterprise and connect with the community.”
