In episode three of our podcast How Can I Help?, we get advice on what to do if you think someone you know is experiencing anxiety or depression.

Feeling sad or stressed from time to time is all part of being human. But for some people, they can experience these feelings intensely, for long periods and sometimes without any apparent reason.

In fact, three million Australians are living with anxiety or depression.

Much more than a low mood – these are serious conditions that can affect a person’s physical and mental health, and make it hard to cope with daily life.

So what do you do if you know someone who is experiencing depression or anxiety?

In this episode of How Can I Help?, we speak with Camilla Martin about her experience of anxiety, and we talk to Dr Grant Blashki, a clinical advisor at Beyond Blue, a clinical GP, and an academic at the University of Melbourne, about the best ways we can help.

How Can I Help? Is a podcast for people who want to help, but don’t know where to start.

Hosted by Pro Bono News editor Wendy Williams, the six-part series features conversations with people with lived experience and experts in the field on what we can do to help in situations that we might encounter at some point in our lives  – whether that’s when you see someone sleeping rough, if you think a friend or colleague is in an abusive relationship, or if a family member is suffering from depression.
