Pro Bono Australia’s Impact 25 Awards shine a spotlight on individuals who are working to make the world a better place
Voting has now opened for Pro Bono Australia’s 2019 Impact 25 Awards.
From hundreds of nominations, a shortlist of 150 individuals has been chosen – made up of innovators and influencers from across the social sector, who are all achieving positive change in their communities.
Pro Bono Australia founder and CEO Karen Mahlab AM said it had been inspiring to see so many names put forward, and said the calibre of this year’s nominees had been exceptional.
“It has been an inspiring process to read through the 400-plus nominations and hear about the important grassroots and transformative work being carried out by so many dedicated individuals in the community,” Mahlab said.
“Since 2014, Pro Bono Australia’s Impact 25 awards have recognised individuals who are working to solve today’s greatest challenges through integrity, foresight, initiative and collaboration. I look forward to seeing who is voted by the community as this year’s Impact 25.”
Readers are encouraged to cast their vote for up to three people they believe to be the most influential and impactful social sector leaders for 2019.
From the final 25 award winners, a panel of judges will choose a winner for each of the following three categories: Innovator, Influencer, and Collaborator.
Judging panel member Lisa Cotton said the awards were about celebrating incredible changemakers.
“Bold ambition and a deep sense of justice is what sparks transformative change in society. There are so many extraordinary individuals who embody these traits, but we don’t often hear about them. Impact 25 is changing this by shining a light on 25 changemakers,” Cotton said.
Previous Impact 25 recipients include anti-domestic violence campaigner Rosie Batty AO, Justice Connect chair Professor Gillian Triggs, and esteemed humanitarian lawyer Julian Burnside AO QC.
Last year, Pro Bono Australia received over 33,000 votes for the nominees.
Voters will go into the draw to win a prize-pack with gifts from socially conscious organisations including Among Equals, Big Little Brush, Curated with Conscience, Dumbo Feather, HoMie, Life Interwoven, and Team Timbuktu.
