Tap-to-donate bus shelters hit the streets of NZ

Breast Cancer Foundation NZ will be the first charity to benefit from the donation initiative
New Zealanders will be able to make charitable giving a part of their daily commute, with the nation’s first tap-and-go bus shelter donation panel unveiled in Auckland.
Using this panel – installed by oOh!Media – people will be able to donate NZ$3 (A$2.80) to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ by simply tapping their payWave enabled credit card or smartphone against the reader.

Breast Cancer Foundation NZ’s CEO, Evangelia Henderson, said the new panel allowed people to donate to an important cause in a unique way.
“Breast Cancer Foundation NZ is always looking for innovative ways to spread the breast health message and to raise vital funds for our work,” Henderson said.
“It’s great that oOh!media’s new donation panels are helping us to do this.”
The donation panel – located in Auckland on Queen St – is purely tap-and-pay, with no pin pad, and with the system set to only take NZ$3.
oOh!media New Zealand’s general manager, Nick Vile, said he was thrilled to have Breast Cancer Foundation NZ kicking off the initiative, which he said will become an effective way for charities to gain greater community support.
“The technology is not new but when combined with our panels at street level it is a really powerful and affordable way for charities to engage ‘on the go’ New Zealanders,” Vile said.
“All funds collected from this initiative will be directed straight into the charity’s account via a secure process.”
