Jaden Smith celebrates birthday in a different style
13 July 2019 at 12:00 pm

While big-name celebrities often mark their 21st birthday with a glitzy, over-the-top party, Jaden Smith has used the day to grow his work as a budding philanthropist.

Smith has launched a vegan food-truck that provides free meals to people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles.

Homelessness has gone up 16 per cent in Los Angeles over the past year.

Smith said that the I Love You restaurant food truck was about giving people healthy, vegan food for free.

“Today we launched our first one day food truck pop-up in downtown LA. Keep a look out because this is the first of many,” Smith said on Instagram.

This is not the first time Smith, who is also a successful singer, actor and entrepreneur, has used his influence for good.

His JUST goods company collaborated with a Michigan church in March to help bring clean water to the city, installing a mobile water filtration system called “The Water Box” to help reduce lead and other contaminants.

While Smith has not revealed how often the truck will be distributing the free meals, he received a public out-pouring of support for his efforts, including from actor Kevin Hart and singer SZA.

“This is dope, I love what you are doing man,” Hart commented on his Instagram post.
