Applications are open for a share in $4 million of funding from the icare foundation’s Quality of Life Fund to seed and scale initiatives that improve quality of life for people who have been seriously injured as well as their families.
“Through our Quality of Life fund, we want to make a tangible difference to the lives of these people, their families and the people that care for them,” Barney Smith, interim general manager at icare foundation, said.
“By funding new and innovative ideas and initiatives we believe we can bridge the gap and make sure that people who are seriously injured and their families get the support and services they need to thrive in their new normal.”
Through the Quality of Life Fund, icare foundation is looking to fund initiatives that:
- provide practical and/or emotional support for carers and families to better support the seriously injured person;
- enrich life and provide a renewed sense of value and purpose;
- assist people (and their families) to adapt to life post-injury;
- help people to manage chronic pain effectively; and
- foster social connection and inclusiveness.
“By targeting these five fields we believe we can spread the impact across the key areas where people are struggling the most to create real, practical and effective solutions now and into the future,” Smith said.
Applications are open for four weeks between 21 Jan and 15 Feb 2019.
“We want to hear from community organisations, not for profits, social enterprises and anyone who’s working to make a real difference in this area. If they have a solution we have the funding to seed or scale their initiative,” Smith added.
Interested parties can attend an information session on 6 February at the Start Up Hub on York Street, Sydney.
