Improving NFP Interaction with the ATO
1 December 2016 at 5:13 pm

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) is conducting a survey of the not-for-profit sector about how it interacts with the tax office.

The research is being conducted by independent research organisation EY Sweeney, who will send out invitations to take part in the study.

The results of the research will help the ATO understand how not-for-profit organisations approach their obligations and entitlements, allowing them to design better targeted services and products and improve engagement with the sector.

The ATO is also conducting an additional survey that will provide insights into how taxpayers interact with their website. The results will help the ATO to improve the experience not-for-profit organisations have using the website.

The survey should only take 20 minutes to complete. To start the survey click on the link here.

In November the ATO joined with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and the Australian Transaction and Reports Analysis Centre to undertake a national risk assessment of charities and not-for-profit organisations.

The agencies have begun to assess the risk of money laundering and terrorism financing facing the not-for-profit sector in Australia.
