Connecting the Social Sector with Pro Bono Legal Advice

Following a successful first year the NSW Office of Social Impact Investment Expert Advice Exchange (EAX) has extended its new round of applications for 2016.
The platform aims to connect social sector organisations with pro bono advice and support from leading law firms, professional services firms and financial institutions.
Trevor Danos, chair of the EAX panel said they had a “fantastic” response last year and hoped they could build on that again this year.
“The exchange successfully connected 77 social sector organisations with 35 advisory firms that provided nearly 1,400 hours of pro bono advice,” Danos said.
“There are many benefits for social sector organisations from participating in the EAX. We hope to continue the success of 2015 and help even more organisations this year.”
The EAX aims to build capacity in eligible Not for Profits and social enterprises by helping them develop a good understanding of relevant legal, financial and management issues which will equip them to participate in new approaches, like outcomes-based contracts and social impact investment.
Advice is available in over 20 areas, including:
legal issues, such as governance, intellectual property and regulatory matters
- strategy, such as business planning, IT systems and communications
- financial management and accounting
- program development, implementation and evaluation.
Applications for the EAX have been extended until on 21 June 2016.
