Impact100 $100,000 Grant Finalists

Major Melbourne giving circle, Impact100 Melbourne, has announced the top four organisations in the running for its annual $100,000 High Impact Grant.

The finalists in this year’s theme of “Youth and Education” are the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation, Kids Off The Kerb, Life Changing Experiences and Raise Foundation, who were selected from 41 applicants.

All four organisations will present to at least 60 members at Impact100’s Grant Awards night on 12 November at the Melbourne Town Hall. The winner on the night will receive a $100,000 grant.

Impact100 Melbourne Committee Member, Rikki Andrews, said the committee had a tough job short listing the many outstanding applicants down to the final four.

“This year was the largest number of expressions of interest, and it has been a challenging yet inspiring few months working with Members to short-list the final four,” Andrews said.

“We know that $100,000 will allow one of these organisations to make a truly tangible difference to the lives of young, disadvantaged people in Melbourne.”

Now in its third year, Impact100 Melbourne is made up of 100 members who each donate $1000. Its mandate is to focus on the most under-served parts of Melbourne and increase philanthropy across Melbourne.

Andrews said the rationale for the group was simple.

“We recognise that while Melbourne is the ‘most liveable city in the world’, and our desire is to see it liveable for everyone,” Andrews said.

The Aboriginal Literacy Foundation aims to close the literacy and numeracy gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students living in Melbourne and surrounding regions.

Kids Off The Kerb aims to give every young person the opportunities to reach their potential. To create relationships with local businesses and service providers to deliver a holistic service for young people.

Life Changing Experiences Foundation offers youth support programs, the main one being Sister2Sister. Its aim is to help marginalized Australian teenage girls break the cycle of destitution and abuse and choose a better future.

Raise Foundation provides mentoring programs and personal development workshops for vulnerable young Australians facing profound challenges such as mental health, substance misuse, teen pregnancy/young parent families, sexual health issues or may come from stressful home environments.
