Women from a wide range of Not for Profit organisations have featured heavily on the list of finalists for the 2015 Telstra South Australian Business Women’s Awards.
Six women from five different organisations were announced as possible winners of the awards, which could see them progress to the Australian finals to be held in Melbourne in November.
Novita Children’s Services, which provides rehabilitation and disability services to more than 3,000 young clients, as well as support for their families and carers, had two women feature on the list.
The organisation’s Director of Operations (Client Services), Julie Astley, and General Manager Human Resources, Karina Bunker, are both finalists in the longest running women’s award program in Australia.
“I’m genuinely thrilled and humbled to be listed as a finalist,” Astley said.
“The Awards have provided the opportunity for me to reflect on my personal career and goals, meet other South Australian women working in a variety of roles and sectors and share the challenges we all often face. It is an amazing group of women and I’m looking forward to learning from them.”
Four other women were named finalists in the For Purpose and Social Enterprise category, including CEO of Meals on Wheels SA, Sharyn Broer, Dr Michelle Stone from Girl Guides South Australia and Kate Thiele from Guide Dogs SA/NT.
Telstra Chief Operations Officer and Telstra Business Women’s Awards Ambassador, Kate McKenzie, said South Australian business women were excelling in a broad range of sectors.
“Now in their 21st year, the Telstra Business Women’s Awards not only celebrate women who have the courage to start their own business and lead their industries, but also offer them a platform to encourage others to challenge the status quo and think differently,” McKenzie said.
"The 2015 South Australian finalists join a long list of successful business women, whose unique and innovative approaches to leadership at state and local community levels, and in some cases, globally, continue to impress and inspire the Awards judges.”
Winners of the 2015 Telstra South Australian Business Women’s Awards will be announced on Tuesday, 13 October in Adelaide.
