Fostering Growth Within Your Community - CPA Conference
3 March 2015 at 10:44 am

As an expert in leadership and innovation for community wellbeing Jo Cavanagh OAM, Chief Executive Officer of Family Life, is a decorated advocate and developer of social community programs that support families in crisis and she is a guest speaker at the upcoming CPA Australia’s Not for Profit Conference.

Operating at a local, state, and national level, Cavanagh has made an impact across the Not for Profit (NFP) industry, most recently being recognised with the Social enterprise/Not for Profit award at the NFP Women of Influence awards.

“These awards recognise the combined talents of people who are working in areas that affect all parts of the community”

Jo Cavanagh is a passionate supporter and voice for the welfare of children across Australia. Her passion for delivering greater community wellbeing has been successfully translated into her organisational structure, assisting Family Life to grow and become a leader of change implementation within the community.

“Welfare issues don’t just belong to the welfare sector; they belong to the whole community.”

Cavanagh will be speaking at the upcoming CPA Australia’s Not for Profit conference on how she spearheaded this program of change and growth, as well as how she continuously strives to implement innovation within her organisation.

Joining her at this event to delve into the key issues affecting the Not for Profit sector will be Louise Walsh, outgoing Chief Executive oOficer of Philanthropy Australia.

Walsh will share her insights on a panel discussion evaluating how the NFP sector can better improve the funding of effective outcomes for the communities and causes they serve.

Les Hems, Director of Climate Change and Sustainability Services, Ernst & Young, will then be following this discussion with relevant case studies to discover new ways to measure, demonstrate and communicate the outcomes and social impact of NFP organisations.

With the NFP environment demanding greater levels of sophistication and pressure to deliver more with less, other issues explored at this two day conference tailored for those in accounting, finance and general management roles include tips for effective government engagement, how to successfully  navigate regulatory and funding uncertainty as well as the essential groundwork before a not-for-profit merger or restructure.
