Defining a Well-Run Not for Profit?
5 March 2015 at 9:53 am
Consultancy business, Good Foundations in conjunction with professional services firm PwC, is undertaking research to understand how both donors and Not for Profit employees define and measure whether their organisation is ‘well-run’ or not.
The term 'well-run' in relation to Not for Profits is often used however, Good Foundations says no consistent definition of the criteria people use to assess whether a Not for Profit organisation is ‘well-run’ or not has been established.
Both surveys (for NFPs and Donors) contain a short number of questions to determine what people think of NFP organisations and how they are run, as well as how donors choose which organisations to support.
"The concept of being well run applies as much to Not for Profit organisations as it does to for-profit organisations – it's all about impact, it's just one focuses on social outcomes and the other financial outcomes,” Principal of Good Foundations Stephen Penny said.
“This survey aims to get to the heart of what it means to be a well run Not for Profit organisation."
