Govt Funding for Social Enterprises

The Victorian Government says it will spend $1 million to help two social enterprise and charity projects create more jobs in the recycling industry.
Minister for Environment and Climate Change Ryan Smith Brad Battin said social enterprise Outlook Environmental would receive $500,000 in funding for a new e-waste recycling facility.
Smith said the project will create up to 25 jobs, including for workers who are disadvantaged, and will see an extra 5,000 tonnes of materials recycled each year.
Smith said the further $500,000 in funding will enable other existing charities and social enterprises to upscale their operations, including the successful ‘The Crunch’ program run by SocialTraders.
“Social enterprises, like Outlook Environmental, play an important role in the recycling sector by tackling traditionally difficult to recycle materials, such as mattresses and computers,” Battin said.
“The Napthine Government is investing to help Victorian social enterprises recover value from waste products and deliver benefits to the community, the Victorian economy and the environment.
“The Coalition recognises that waste is a strong contributor to job creation and economic growth in our great state and is investing over $40 million in the waste and resource recovery industry,” Smith said.
