Free App Helps NFPs Find Volunteers

Not for Profit managers can now recruit volunteers straight from their smartphones for free.
Development company Workible has created an application that can link organisations with people looking for volunteer work.
The app was recognised as one of Australia's most innovative products in Anthill's SMART100 2013 and was a finalist in the 2013 Mobile Awards.
A spokesperson for the company said the new method of recruiting would help uncover skilled volunteers.
“Quite often these awesome people are working around studying, family and other commitments so keeping track of availability – for both you and them – is the key to making scheduling time easy,” the spokesperson said.
“Mobile app, Workible, is now making that easier with a free app for Not-for-Profits.
“Workible is a recruitment app that makes finding available people simple. With one touch posting you can easily find the people you need that match the time you need them.
“But it’s not just finding them that’s the challenge – it’s also filling volunteering shifts that can be time consuming.”
Workible’s Shift Swaps and Covers feature allows coordinators to post the volunteer shift to all volunteers and get notification of those volunteers that are happy to fill it.
The app is delivered by no-cost mobile push notifications, making it free for the NFP sector.
