Melbourne’s Deakin University is launching its 2014 Internship Scheme for International Students (ISIS) offering community-based organisations up to 120 hours of labour support.
The Internship Scheme offers organisations the opportunity to host an international student from November 2014 till March 2015 in various roles in Business and/or IT and applications are open for community organisations to submit in a suitable project opportunity.
“International students nearing the end of degrees in Commerce and IT will undergo a strict application process over the coming months with the goal of attracting high quality candidates into the program,” ISIS Project Manager Grace Diep said.
Diep said many international students bring global work experiences, distinguishing them from their domestic counterparts.
“The Internship Scheme was launched in 2013 as an opportunity for international students to gain experience in an Australian work environment.
“The expansion of this year’s ISIS program marks Deakin University’s commitment to developing well-rounded, employable international graduates."
Booroondara Volunteer Resource Centre said being involved in last year’s ISIS program saw them benefit from having a student produce a contemporary marketing plan relevant to the community and volunteer sectors in which they work.
