Associations and charities with gather in Canberra in July for Australia’s premier event for the Not for Profit sector – the annual Associations Forum.

On the 16-17 July 2014, Associations Forum will host the largest gathering of associations and charities in the Southern Hemisphere at the National Convention Centre, Canberra.

This year’s conference will be attended by over 400 associations and charity executives and suppliers, who have the opportunity to hear new ideas from industry experts, meet exhibitors showcasing leading products and services and network with like-minded peers.

Associations Forum is pleased to be holding its annual conference in Canberra for the first time. Canberra is the seat of the national Government and the focus for lobbying politicians working with the public service to advance the cause of associations or charities.

The increasing popularity of the 2014 conference has been demonstrated by strong delegate attendance and the sell-out exhibition.  The event has a reputation of promoting best practice by including informative and practical educational sessions on topics ranging from governance and management issues to communications and technology.

Delegates will have opportunity to hear first-hand case studies from associations leading the way in their respective industries. John Daley, CEO of the Grattan Institute will also deliver a hard-hitting and practical keynote presentation on the future role of associations given the changing role of government.

The conference has an impressive line-up of keynote speakers installed including: Tony Stuart, CEO of NRMA, Anne Trimmer, Secretary General of Australian Medical Association, Megan Motto, CEO of Consult Australia and Brendan Nelson, Director of Australian War Memorial.

Joining the conference will also be international speaker, Karen Conlon, who is the President and CEO of the California Association of Community Managers. Drawing on her experience from her 24 year tenure with the California Association of Community Managers, Karen will present on finding the right governance model and the strengths and weaknesses of different governance models.

Whether you are new to the sector or simply looking for ways to do your job better, the 2014 Associations Forum National Conference will provide you with plenty of educational and networking opportunities.
