Two arts philanthropists and a major Not for Profit disability service provider have been recognised in this year’s Queensland Greats Awards as part of the State’s Queensland Week celebrations.

Philanthropists Dr Patrick Corrigan, described as one of Australia’s most prolific art collectors and patrons and Win Schubert, a former gallerist who has made a significant contribution to the arts, along with disability service provider the Endeavour Foundation are three of the five recipients of the 2014 Queensland Greats awards.

The other recipients are community leader and former Brisbane Mayor Dr Sallyanne Atkinson, custodian of the country Fred Conway and cancer prevention researcher Professor Adèle Green.

QLD Premier Campbell Newman said every Queensland Great had played a significant role in the history and development of the state through their long-term dedication and commitment to their communities.

This year’s recipients join a distinguished list of previous Queensland Greats including Australian Red Cross Society (2013) and Queensland Meals on Wheels (2012) and individuals Tim Fairfax (2013), Daphne Pirie (2012), Wally Lewis (2011) and Mike Ahern (2010).

Since 2001, the Queensland Government has recognised 70 individuals and nine institutions whose names are displayed on commemorative plaques at Brisbane’s Roma Street Parkland. The Queensland Greats Awards are held as part of Queensland Week celebrations, May 31–June 8.
