An infrastructure authority head has taken on the role of Board President at Victorian peak body Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria (A&OV).

Duncan Langdon, Executive Director of Corporate Services at Linking Melbourne Authority, will replace Judge Phillip Misso, who is retiring from A&OV’s top board position after six years – five of which he spent as President.

A&OV Chief Executive Officer Linda Martin said Langdon would bring a wealth of experience to the role.

“Duncan’s insight, advice and leadership as President will be highly valued. Phillip has steered us through many positive changes to the organisation. We would like to thank him for his significant contribution and wish him all the best for the future,” Martin said.

Langdon said he looked forward to the challenges and opportunities the position would present.

“I am honoured to take on the role as President of the Board of Directors of Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria and together with the Board look forward to the challenges and successes ahead,” Langdon said.

“With 6.1 million Australian’s affected by a musculoskeletal condition, which is more people than any other national health priority area, we must continue in our efforts to educate the community about the burden these conditions place on the health system.”

Also joining the A&OV Board of Directors is Jade Rowarth, a partner at law firm Maddocks Lawyers.

The A&OV Board of Directors is made up of President Duncan Langdon, Vice President Stephen Fitzpatrick, Treasurer Jim Dixon, Prof Peter Brooks, Janine Fisher, Dr Ian Relf, James Coyle, Geoffrey McDonald Bowll, Anthony Raitman, Bernadette Dennis and Jade Rowarth.

Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria is the State’s peak body representing 1.5 million Victorians who live with arthritis, osteoporosis and more than 150 other musculoskeletal conditions.
