The Victoria’s peak body for volunteering has worked with volunteering leaders across the state to launch a Volunteer Management Special Interest Group.

To mark International Volunteer Managers Day (November 5), Volunteering Victoria is calling for nominations for the 12-member Executive of the group.

“Volunteer managers are the critical link that ensure volunteer-reliant organisations can deliver the essential services that many Victorian rely on,” Volunteering Victoria CEO Sue Noble said.

“We simply could not do without these incredibly skilled people who are human resources managers, counsellors, marketers, recruiters, project managers and trainers – often all in the one day.

“On International Volunteer Managers Day, we congratulate and thank every volunteer manager and coordinator in Victoria. These are the people who foster and direct the great gift of volunteering offered by 35 per cent of Victorians – around 1.5 million people.”

Volunteering Victoria says the launch of the new Volunteer Management Special Interest Group marks a specific effort by the peak body to focus on the importance of volunteer management, with volunteer managers supported and promoted through training, mentoring, peer support and recognition activities.

Nominations for the Volunteer Management Special Interest Group close on November 22.

The nomination form and further information is available at Volunteering Victoria’s website.
