The Not for Profit sector is unique and has its own challenges and opportunities – and SMC Conference & Function Centre (SMC) offers 16 unique venue spaces in the heart of Sydney’s CBD to assist.

The venue has created a policy specifically for the NFP sector called SMC’s Convention for Conventions.

“We try to be as easy to do business with as possible, ” SMC Conference & Function Centre, Director of Sales, Scott Cooper said.

“We recognise that being flexible with deposits and minimum numbers on contracts for the Not for Profit sector can often be the deal-breaker.

“This flexibility and genuine appreciation of challenges faced by the sector will often put us ahead of a competitor venue also bidding as the location for a National Conference. That conference might have 150-700 delegates attending with up to 10 breakout rooms, 30-40 booths and social programs,” Cooper said.

“The whole team at SMC appreciates that committee members are time poor and are often volunteer positions, so we offer to host complimentary committee planning meetings on premise after a committee has completed a site inspection of the facilities.”

SMC’s also has applauded green credentials, high speed fibre-optic internet connections and the excellent service the organiser, committee and delegates will receive pre, post and on the day of their event.

SMC is a wholly owned subsidiary of an Association, the Freemasons of NSW & ACT.

“SMC has worked very hard to establish itself as strategic partnership to the NFPs rather than just another supplier,” Cooper said.

“The 16 spaces the venue hires in the Sydney CBD  is more often than not filled with NFPs running various seminars, continuing professional development training sessions, National Conferences & Exhibitions and Awards Dinners.”

Libby Schrafft runs an innovative conference program for Government and Not for Profit sectors  (www.clubg.org.au).
