Launching Corporate Community Online - A CSR Game-Changer

Pro Bono Australia – Australia’s leading social business resourcing the Not for Profit sector – has launched a new website that’s set to change the profile of Corporate Social Responsibility in Australia.
And according to Pro Bono Australia’s founder, Karen Mahlab, it has the potential to change the way business is done.
Corporate Community is Pro Bono Australia’s new online initiative designed to generate new interest and maintain the momentum of corporate social responsibility practices in the Australian business community.
Corporate Community is the first high-profile website committed to delivering corporate social responsibility news and information in Australia and will allow companies to profile their CSR strategy, share their sustainability reports and discuss their community involvement.
“Pro Bono Australia already acts as the major hub for people who want to engage with Australia’s Not for Profit organisations and community and is now expanding to include the Australian Business sector,” Mahlab said.
“With the growth in prominence and importance of business strategies around community engagement, sustainability and integrated reporting, Pro Bono Australia is ideally placed to provide the Australian business sector with a portal where information around these issues and emerging trends are located all in the one place – Corporate Community.”
In October 2012, Karen Mahlab was named in the top 100 list of Women of Influence in Australia under the social enterprise category for her work in developing Pro Bono Australia as one of Australia’s first social businesses.
“Since 1998, we have worked to support our vision of an engaged and informed civil society and to support the community organisations which make such a society possible.
“Our own research has found that Australians believe that companies should better support the communities in which they operate – two thirds agree that companies should be investing more in corporate social responsibility programs and two thirds would prefer to work for a company that had a strong corporate social responsibility program and reputation.
“With over 800,000 individuals engaging with our site this year, Pro Bono Australia is in the prime position to raise the profile of CSR in Australia.”
