Youth 20 Summit members announced

The National Indigenous Youth Leadership Academy Director Benson Saulo has been selected as Chair of the planning group for the Youth 20 (Y20) summit in Australia next year.

Australia will host the summit as part of its Group of Twenty (G20) presidency in Brisbane in November 2014.

Other members of the Y20 planning group include women’s rights and anti-poverty campaigner Samah Hadid; Youth Without Borders founder Yassmin Abdel-Magied; Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Global Voices Scott Limbrick; mental health campaigner Ehon Chan; climate campaigner Amanda McKenzie; and social entrepreneur Holly Ransom.

Saulo said he was honoured to have been appointed Chair of the planning group and was excited for the opportunity to work with the other “extraordinary young people” who have been selected.

“The Y20 is a platform for young people across the G20 to make their voices heard on the most pressing global economic challenges,” he said.

CEO of the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) Jan Owen AM said: “Young people are well placed to be a driving force behind innovative solutions to social issues, and Y20 summits allow for substantive policy discussions among young people from across the globe.”

FYA’s National Indigenous Youth Leadership Academy (NIYLA) supports the next generation of young Indigenous Australians to become leaders of social change, as part of the Foundation for Young Australians.

The G20 is the premier forum for international cooperation on the most important issues of the global economic and financial agenda. It brings together the world's major advanced and emerging economies, representing around 85 per cent of global GDP.
