The UK “Productivity Ninja” Guest at Volunteering Conference
30 July 2013 at 11:27 am

Former UK Charity Chief Executive, social entrepreneur and author of “How to be a Productivity Ninja”, Graham Allcott is a guest speaker at the upcoming National Conference on Volunteering in Adelaide.

Allcott’s transition from charity chief executive to freelance consultant inspired him to set up Think Productive, a social business that helps people beat stress and boost productivity.

His previous roles include founder of the international student volunteering charity Intervol, CEO of Student Volunteering England, head of volunteering at the University of Birmingham and an advisor to the UK government on youth engagement and volunteering policy.

This year, Allcott is taking on the big questions, such as: why do we do what we do, what does our work mean to us, and how do we achieve that elusive “work/life balance” in the age of permanent connection and information overload?

So far “Productivity Ninja” has undertaken a different productivity experiment each month. He broke free from the tyranny of email by checking his inbox only on Fridays, spent a month making decisions by the throw of a dice and worked only 7 hours a week to see how it would impact productivity and the ability to prioritise. Starting August 1st, Allcott says he will be 100% OFF-LINE for a month!

During the 15th National Conference on Volunteering, Allcott will report back with his results so far, reveal what he’s been learning about his own productivity and share some of the changes we can all make to the way we work.

The conference will present an extensive program consisting of over 70 discussion topics and high profile national and international speakers.

The 15th National Conference on Volunteering will be staged in Adelaide from 4-6 September 2013 by Volunteering Australia, organised and hosted by Volunteering South Australia – Northern Territory.
