Social Entrepreneur Named Young Achiever of the Year

Social entrepreneur and the founder of Thankyou Water, Daniel Flynn, has been named as the 2013 Victorian Young Achiever of the Year.

Flynn was nominated for the Harcourts Leadership and Innovation category, in recognition of his efforts that have helped drive the significant growth of Thankyou Water since 2008.

At the age of 19, Flynn founded the social enterprise, which gives 100 per cent of its profits to fund safe water projects in developing nations.

Thankyou Water has seen phenomenal growth over the past 12 months, almost quadrupling its turnover from the previous year, according to the organisation.

Last year it launched an industry leading reporting app for consumers called Track Your Impact.

Flynn said that his motivation behind driving leadership and innovation in the organisation is to see as much impact around the globe as possible.

“I feel truly humbled to have received an award of this calibre – to say it was unexpected would be an understatement,” Flynn said.

The Victorian Young Achiever Awards acknowledge, encourage and promote the positive achievements of young Victorians up to 28 years of age.

The Awards recognise the achievements of Victoria's youth in six categories, with one of the six category winners being named the Victorian Young Achiever of the Year.

“The whole reason behind what I do is to change lives through the provision of safe water. I think that by constantly improving how we do things in our organisation, especially through innovation in the digital and technological space,” Flynn said.
