NFP Governance Scholarships

Chartered Secretaries Australia (CSA) has partnered with Australian Scholarships Foundation (ASF) and The Origin Foundation to offer up to 20 scholarships for CSA's Certificate in Governance for Not-For-Profits (NFPs) in 2013.

Each scholarship is valued at $2,994 and will be offered to NFP board members and senior professionals who meet agreed selection criteria.

“NFPs play a vital role in our society, as they strengthen social inclusion and cohesiveness within Australian communities while enhancing our economic, cultural and environmental well being. Like their counterparts in private and public listed companies, NFPs need sound governance practices and procedures and these scholarships will go a long way towards achieving that outcome,” CSA’s policy director Judith Fox said.

“This Certificate is tailored to assist NFP organisations to evaluate and improve their governance frameworks, particularly at a time when the sector is undergoing significant reform.

“It has been designed to equip people involved in NFP organisations to implement good governance while recognising the specific requirements of the sector.

The Certificate in Governance for NFPs is offered nationally at convenient locations throughout the year or, alternatively, it can be completed via distance mode at any time.

“The online mode of study has proven to be very popular with professionals working in NFP organisations in remote areas of the country, and also with those who need flexibility in working hours,” Fox said.

"Good governance is critical and CSA’s Certificate in Governance for NFPs will prove invaluable training to help those working in the sector to meet the legal, regulatory and financial reporting requirements, ASF chief executive Amy Lyden said.

“We are delighted that CSA, in partnership with ASF and The Origin Foundation, is generously providing these scholarship opportunities for NFPs, and thrilled that those working in the sector will be able to access this important education whether they choose to learn in a face-to-face class structure or online, depending on their needs”.
