New South Wales based Not for Profit, Country Education Foundation of Australia (CEFA) has announced Sarah Taylor as its new chief executive.

The community-based foundation, which helps rural young people with post-school education and employment, says that Taylor will join the organisation going into its 10th anniversary year this year.

Taylor has formerly worked in roles such as adviser to the former Labor Prime Minister, Paul Keating and former Minister for Higher Education and Employment Services, Peter Baldwin, as well as consulting and staff positions with the NSW public service, local government and corporate Australia.

CEFA chairman, Nick Burton Taylor, said Taylor was well placed to lead CEFA with her rural background and extensive government and corporate experience.

“Sarah’s skills and experience will be real assets to CEFA as we continue our work improving education and career prospects for rural youth,” Burton Taylor said.

“CEFA is very pleased to have Sarah on board and her energy and enthusiasm for the role is palpable – we look forward to what we can achieve together.”

Taylor said she was “delighted” to join CEFA on the eve of the organisation’s 10th Anniversary in 2013.

“CEFA has an amazing network of volunteers, sponsors and university partners who work to improve the lives of young people in rural Australia – I am delighted to be joining that team at such an exciting time in CEFA’s development,” Taylor said.

CEFA is a national, Not for Profit organisation, established in Boorowa NSW in 1993.
