The Board of the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) has announced the appointment of Penny Wilson as its new Chief Executive Officer.
VCOSS President Micaela Cronin said that Wilson was chosen after an extensive national search and recruitment process.
“She brings a wealth of experience in the community, government, academic and private sectors to her leadership of VCOSS, which works to address disadvantage in Victoria and to strengthen the capability of the community sector to work with vulnerable Victorians,” Cronon said.
Wilson was formerly Chief Executive Officer of the Responsible Gambling Advocacy Centre and has held the senior roles of Deputy Director and Acting Executive Director of Strategic Communications in the Victorian Government.
“Ms Wilson’s skills in working with diverse groups on complex social policy issues, experience across different sectors, and her passion for social justice will be central to her work at VCOSS.
“The VCOSS Board looks forward to working with her to further build VCOSS’s role and reputation as a strong advocate for social change and voice of the disadvantaged in Victoria.”
Wilson will take up the role in late August and replaces former CEO Cath Smith who after 27 years of working in the non-government sector is to be Director of Social Performance at Futureye, an international consulting business based in Melbourne.
