Young Entrepreneur Calls For Help to Attend G20 Youth Summit

A young Australian entrepreneur has urged the Federal Government and corporations to urgently get behind plans to send a full delegation to the G20 Youth Entrepreneur Summit in Mexico next month.
Jeremy Liddle (awarded Australia's Fastest Growing Small Business in 2010) has been nominated to head an Australian delegation to the G20 YES in Mexico commencing 2nd June 2012.
Liddle says he has had less than 3 weeks to put together a 13 strong delegation of Australia's hottest young entrepreneurs but awareness about the G20YES in Australia is lacklustre at best, and he has had no external funding for flights, accommodation or travel expenses.
The G20YES takes place two weeks before the G20 Summit and many world leaders also attend the Youth event. All decisions from the G20YES are presented to the G20 Summit.
“Nearly two years after the inaugural G20YES Summit in Toronto, the G20 YES has official G20 Summit status and the communiqués created at the G20 YES have been received and acknowledged by G20 governments.
“Young entrepreneurs are critical in the promotion of economic growth, creation of jobs, promotion of innovation and are drivers of social change,” says Liddle.
Liddle says he has written to all the Federal Ministers under the Innovation portfolios including Small Business and Education and has had no response.
Liddle launched his first company at the age of 24 called RioLife, a natural health company which featured as one of Australia’s top emerging companies in BRW Magazine and is now stocked in over 1,700 health food stores, pharmacies and supermarkets in Australia and New Zealand.
"It is embarrassing that the Australian Government can spend $40 million sending politicians to the G20 summit in 2011 but Australia's Entrepreneurs are yet to be fully represented at such an important event on the global stage" said Liddle.
He has also urged Australia’s major companies to come forward and assist with sending the delegation to Mexico.
The event has over 500 delegates from the G20 nations and some guest nations attending as well.
“In 2013 the G20YES is in Moscow, and then Australia is hosting the event in 2014. So there will be an opportunity to be involved as the host nation representatives/organisers as well.”
